'12 Years A Slave' trailer: Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender overshadowed by Chiwetel Ejiofor
In Steve McQueen's latest film "12 Years A Slave" has an impressive ensemble cast, but its Chiwetel Ejiofor who looks poised to steal the film. He plays Solomon Northup, a free man abducted and sold into slavery. "12 Years A Slave" is based on Northup's true live story after he had to spend more than a decade of his life enslaved.
Though Brad Pitt's Canadian abolitionist character doesn't have a big role in the trailer, expect to see a lot more of him towards the end of the film. Instead we get to see the dark side of Michael Fassbender as Solomon's plantation owner. McQueen knows how to push Fassbender as an actor, as they previously worked together on 2008's "Hunger" and 2011's "Shame," so it will be exciting to see what he can draw out of him in this film.
The rest of "12 Years A Slave's" all-star cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Dano, Sarah Paulson, Paul Giamatti, Taran Killam, Quvezhane Wallis and Michael Kenneth Williams. It's due in theaters on Oct. 18 in limited release.
