johnny-depp-black-keys-mtv-movie-awards.jpg Johnny Depp is a rock star in the movie industry. So it's no surprise that when he was honored with the Generation Award at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, it was presented by Aerosmith's Joe Perry and Steven Tyler and that in lieu of a traditional acceptance speech, he rocked the stage behind a guitar along with the Black Keys.

Depp was honored for his body of work -- everything from "Edward Scissorhands" to "Neverland" to "Pirates of the Caribbean" to "Dark Shadows."

"He's a modern-day Errol Flynn," said Perry.

Though rather than talking at length about his experience as an actor, he chose to pick up a guitar and play along with the Black Keys on their song "Gold on the Ceiling."

"It's like the 'get out of the business' award, basically," said Depp after the performance. "Like, alright, you've done too much. And based on the clips, there's something wrong with me."

And just like that, he was back behind the guitar and cue the commercial. We have to assume, by the way, that Keith Richards and Michael Jagger were unavailable to present the award.
