2012 Summer Olympics: Dara Torres' bid for a sixth Olympics ends in the finalsAdd to Favorites | U.S. Olympic Trials
Unfortunately, Torres' run ended Monday (July 2) in the 50 Free finals, when she finished in fourth place - only the top two swimmers make the team. Jessica Hardy and Kara Lynn Joyce took first and second with times of 24.5 and 24.73, respectively. Torres clocked a time of 24.82.
Torres had this to say after her race, "You know what, I can leave this knowing I gave it everything I possibly could. That's the best I could do. Unfortunately, I didn't make the team, but I did the best I could."
And this marks the end of Torres' swimming career. She has said do not expect to see her at the age of 49 trying to make the squad for Rio 2016.
