2014 Oscars won't be rained out: Academy Award red carpet contingency plan
"We've been monitoring weather patterns for weeks. We have this covered literally and figuratively," Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences communications chief Teni Melidonian tells Deadline. "We would prefer viewers at home to see sunshine, but otherwise nothing will be different for the red carpet show than any other year."
The entire red carpet area has been covered, which means the only area left exposed to the elements is the area where the limos actually drop off the celebrities. For that section, Deadline reports, the Academy will have "dozens" of employees standing by with umbrellas.
