2014 World's Ugliest Dog: Peanut the mutt takes top prize

worlds-ugliest-dog-2014-peanut-holly-chandler.jpgThe 2014 World's Ugliest Dog has been crowned at the annual contest held at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, Calif. This year's winner is Peanut, a mutt whose story is especially touching because he was abused by a previous owner and spent nine months in a shelter before owner Holly Chandler adopted him.

Chandler entered the World's Ugliest Dog contest to raise awareness for animal rescue and agrees with "Today" in the video below that on Saturday (June 21), Peanut was the "prettiest dog in the ugliest contest."

The mixed-breed pooch also took home top prize in the "mutt" category, while Chinese Crested SeePee Rambo took home top prize in the "pedigree" category.
