A 'Game of Thrones' love letter: Keep killing favorite characters

It's that time of year again -- candy hearts, boxes of chocolates, mushy cards. In honor of Valentine's Day 2014, Zap2it is penning some "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways" odes to some of our favorite shows.

Dear "Game of Thrones":

Though spring will arrive first, I can't believe it's time for winter to come with your fourth season. With almost two months to go until your return, I anxiously await having you back in my life by counting down the days with trailers and stills and featurettes until I get to see you once a week.

It's during this time, before our reunion, that I start to be reminded about all the reasons you're so special for me. Thinking back over our years together, we've definitely had our ups and downs. I just have to say, thanks for keeping our relationship exciting.

The key to a healthy relationship is not being afraid to mix things up a bit so you don't fall into a pattern. Every time I've come close to falling into a lull, you find some new way to surprise me and keep me engaged and maintain my excitement for tuning in week after week.

I'll admit, last year when you killed off Robb Stark, I was pretty upset about it. I mean, who wasn't? But I quickly realized what value the Red Wedding had in keeping my love for you alive. You reminded me that I shouldn't try to categorize you or anticipate you or think I have any way of easily classifying you as just another fantasy story. You are unique, and you'll do what you like.

So for this Valentine's Day, I just ask for one gift from you: Keep surprising me. Keep killing off my favorite characters on the show. Keep making the heroes of your story the villains, and your villains the heroes. Make me like Joffrey, if you like. Kill off Daenerys, and have someone else take the dragons to King's Landing.

Keep going the unexpected route, and I promise, my affection will never wane. Keep reminding me that, like Jon Snow, I really do know nothing.

With all my heart,
Terri
