aaron-paul-better-call-saul.jpgThe world of "Better Call Saul" might end being a Jesse-free one, at least for the time being.

Although "Breaking Bad" star Aaron Paul has said in the past he's game to reprise the character of Jesse Pinkman in the spinoff, he's less optimistic now that it will actually come to pass.

"To be honest, it's not gonna happen," Paul tells the Huffington Post. "There's rumors floating around that I'm going to be doing it, but that's simply not the case. ... I mean, I'm trying to let it be on the record."

Further adding to the confusion, he said in a separate interview on HuffPost Live (which you can see in the video at the link above) that he hopes to play Jesse again, although nothing has been nailed down. So is Paul just engaging in more misdirection, or is it really not happening?

The truth is, it's probably way too early to tell. Though AMC has already ordered a second season of "Saul" -- which is set before "Breaking Bad" -- production on the show started only a couple of weeks ago. The series is scheduled to premiere in early 2015.
