ABC embraces 'Modern Family' for fall, gives Aisha Tyler a pilot

Edoneill_johnfromcin_290 "Modern Family" has the honor of being ABC's first pilot to get ordered up for the fall.

The ensemble comedy starring Ed O'Neill, Sofia Vergara and Jesse Tyler Ferguson has received a 13-episode order, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The mockumentary follows three different suburban couples -- traditional, gay and multiethnic -- and is from veteran writer-producers Steve Levitan and Christopher Lloyd.

Aishatyler_290 Also recently announced is the talk show pilot "The Aisha Tyler Show" hosted by the titular comedian herself.

Aimed at a younger audience for syndication or cable, the show will try to combine traditional talk show concepts with produced comedy segments and funny political commentary. The show also intends viewers to be able to reach Tyler through Facebook, Twitter and other wired platforms.
