ABC Family announces 'Freak Out' hidden-camera show to debut during 13 Nights of Halloween
The half-hour series is courtesy of 495 Productions ("Jersey Shore," "Party Down South") and has been picked up for 14 episodes. Each episode will feature elaborate effects, makeup and actors set upon an unsuspecting mark whose fears will come to life before his or her eyes, with hidden cameras capturing every moment. The mark's family and friends are all in on the gags, which will seem horrifyingly real until the mark realizes he or she has been pranked.
"I'm glad to get reality back on our schedule and to continue to grow our original programming," says ABC Family president Tom Ascheim. "Scary can be funny and this series is sure to deliver the 'sclaughing' -- the screaming and the laughing. We're also excited to be working with 495 Productions, a company with a proven track record for delivering hugely entertaining reality series."
