Miranda Lambert nearly swept the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards Sunday night (April 7), taking home three awards out of four nominations.
Her first win of the night was shared with husband -- and ACM Awards co-host -- Blake Shelton. The couple took home Song of the Year for "Over You." Blake accepted the award, saying he wasn't going to give Miranda a chance to talk. "I've learned so much from this human being right here," Blake says of his beautiful wife. "She blows me away ... she really taught me how to write a good song."
Up next for Miranda was Single Record of the Year, also for "Over You." Lambert was emotional as she accepted her trophy solo this time. "I didn't know what to say about Song of the Year because my husband was about to make me bawl," she says. "As a songwriter, having your lyrics recognized by your peers is pretty much as good as it gets. Thank you for accepting me as a songwriter; not just a singer-performer because that means the world to me."
Lambert took home a third award, Female Vocalist of the Year, and this time she did cry. "I for sure thought Carrie [Underwood] had it this year, and she d*** well deserves it," Miranda says, before realizing, "I can't say that on TV." Lambert continues, saying she cried all night Saturday after realizing her childhood dreams had actually come true.
Miranda was also nominated for Entertainer of the Year, but that prize went to Shelton's co-host, Luke Bryan.
Earlier in the night, Blake introduced Miranda's rocking performance of "Mama's Broken Heart" by bragging, "I got to see her naked this mornin'." Looks like they're still laughing off those pesky cheating rumors. Seriously, who doesn't love this couple?
