Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan pulled off their co-hosting gig with flying colors at the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards Sunday (April 7).
One way "Bluke" ensured their teaming would receive only positive reviews was to avoid bagging on fellow Entertainer of the Year nominee, Taylor Swift. When asked by the Associated Press what advice Shelton had for first-timer Bryan, he replied, "I would tell him to be prepared for the onslaught of hatred that will come from Taylor Swift's fan base if you say any sort of a joke or if she's any part of a punch line in the monologue."
Swift, Bryan, and Shelton, were all up against each other for the night's biggest award, along with Jason Aldean, and Shelton's wife, Miranda Lambert. Bryan ultimately took home the prize, and tearfully thanked fans, whose vote decided the category.
Taylor was nominated in four ACM categories, but lost each one. She was beaten out by Lambert for Female Vocalist of the Year. Her album "Red" lost Album of the Year to Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away," and her video for "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" was bested by Little Big Town's "Tornado."
Despite not getting the chance to give an acceptance speech, Swifty did get to take the stage to join Tim McGraw and Keith Urban for a performance of McGraw's "Highway Don't Care."
