In addition to Marvel Cinematic Universe carryovers Hayley Atwell and Dominic Cooper, it's been announced that Chad Michael Murray and "Dollhouse" alum Enver Gjokaj have joined the cast in regular roles.

According to Marvel.com, "One Tree Hill" alum Murray will play Agent Jack Thompson. The Hollywood Reporter says Gjokaj will play Agent Daniel Sousa. Both are characters Atwell's Agent Carter will meet during her gig at the Strategic Scientific Reserve in New York City.

Audiences were first introduced to Agent Peggy Carter in "Captain America: The First Avenger" as the capable woman who won Steve Rodgers' heart. Though he was pulled into the present day at the end of that movie and missed his chance to spend his life with her, as shown in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," "Agent Carter" will reveal Carter's role as a founder of SHIELD.

"Marvel's Agent Carter" will take place prior to the events of the short film "Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter." The 13-episode Season 1 will air in the midseason break of "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD."

"Captain America" writers Steve McFeely and Christopher Marcus and Marvel's Jeph Loeb are executive producing the new series. Marvel executive producer Louis D'Esposito is directing the pilot, "Captain America: Winter Soldier" directors Anthony and Joe Russo are directing episodes 2 and 3, while "Captain America: The First Avenger" helmer Joe Johnson is in talks to helm episode 4.
