One of the biggest questions of the show's Season 1 finale was just who Raina (Ruth Negga) was talking to when she handed that unseen person a picture of Skye (Chloe Bennet) and said, "I found your daughter." Per TVLine, MacLachlan will provide the answer, as he's set to recur on Season 2 as Skye's dad.

MacLachlan ("Twin Peaks," "Believe") is the second high-profile guest star to join "Agents of SHIELD" for Season 2. Lucy Lawless will also have a "mystery role" on the show, so feel free to connect whatever dots you might be inclined to connect.

"Agents of SHIELD" Season 2 premieres Sept. 23 on ABC.
