Alex Pettyfer's house catches fire before 'Beastly' premiere

pettyfer-beastly.jpgActor Alex Pettyfer's Los Angeles home caught fire on Thurday, Feb. 24, just before he was scheduled to attend the premiere of his new movie "Beastly." The fire was reported at 5:41 pm and firefighters said the flamed were showing from a detached garage that had been converted into an apartment.
 
According to CBS, 27 LAFD firefighters got the fire under control in 24 minutes and Pettyfer was able to attend the premiere after all. The 20-year-old British actor walked the red carpet, did interviews and introduced the film, but left shortly after to deal with the fire. He told KCAL 9 that he was simple "glad" to be at the premiere and didn't want to discuss the fire in detail.

Pettyfer recently made headlines after his break-up with "I Am Number Four" co-star Dianna Agron. "Beastly" is a modern retelling of Disney's classic "Beauty and the Beast." It also stars Vanessa Hudgens and Neil Patrick Harris and hits theaters March 4.
