Alex Trebek does not sleep in the nude. Usually.

We're sure at least two or three people out there have been fervently following this story, so we are proud to present you with its long awaited resolution.

Back in July, "Jeopardy" host Alex Trebek and his wife were victims of a hotel room invasion while in San Francisco; a female burglar snuck in while the couple slept and made off with cash and jewelry. Trebek gave chase, but the high-speed antics caused the host to rupture an Achilles tendon. Trebek recalled the incident on the "Today" show:

"I realized immediately someone had been in the room. I put on my underwear and ran down the hall to see if I could find her."

Wait, what? Why didn't he already have underwe--wait. Does Alex Trebek sleep in the nude?

The answer? Usually no, but this time yes. "Access Hollywood" asked Trebek about his inadvertent Commando admission: "The press got it all wrong. I do not sleep in the nude."

Thanks, Alex. Lucky for us, Trebek goes on:

"That night, I was sleeping with a T-shirt. I didn't have a bottom on because my pajama bottom tended to get caught in my left knee which was injured a year ago...otherwise, I don't go to bed in the nude."

Seems legit. Then why did the press keep making fun of you, Alex?

"...because they were imagining looking at my nude body and that's not a pleasant sight."

In case you need to hear Alex Trebek say the word "nude" over and over in his signature dulcet tones, you can watch the video below.
