Alex Trebek's hotel suspect was a prostitute -- but not his

alex-trebek-jeopardy.jpgWhen "Jeopardy" host Alex Trebek shared the heroically interesting news that he'd chased a thief out of his San Francisco hotel room and ruptured his Achilles tendon in the process we were impressed.

Trebek didn't share many details beyond the fact that he'd awoken to find a thief in the room where he was sleeping beside his wife, he jumped up to give chase and he needed to undergo surgery to repair that Achilles tendon. We have it on good authority that a scheduled Monday (Aug. 8) "Jeopardy" taping was canceled in order to give the guy time to recover.

Now alleged thief Lucinda Moyers is speaking out via a lawyer and wants the world to know that she is not, as alleged by Trebek, a thief. She's a prostitute, thank you very much. According to TMZ, she told police she was at the hotel to meet a John (for the unititiated, that's a customer), but that her John was not Alex.

Moyers' lawyer insists that Trebek is "an innocent victim" but there's still no explanation of what she was doing there and why Trebek chased her.
