Less than a month after "Shake It Up" star Zendaya dropped out of the Lifetime original movie about late pop star Aaliyah, a replacement has been announced. Alexandra Shipp will take on the role.

The news comes from, of all people, Wendy Williams. The "Wendy Williams Show" host shared the news on Twitter, while also noting she is now an executive producer on the project. According to Williams, production on the movie will begin with Shipp later in July.

Shipp's previous credits include guest-starring on episodes of "Switched At Birth," "Victorious" and "Awkward." She was also one of the stars of Nickelodeon's "House of Anubis."
