Alfie Allen is still surprised by 'Game of Thrones' even though he's on the showAdd to Favorites | Game of Thrones
Even "Game of Thrones" actors find themselves surprised by the HBO fantasy series. Because so few of them actually film together, those who are portraying events up at the Wall are caught off guard by developments across the Narrow Sea when they see the final cuts of the episode, and so on.
That was especially true for Alfie Allen, whose Theon Greyjoy only had scenes with Ramsay Snow (Iwan Rheon) in Season 3. Though Allen reads drafts of each episode's scripts, he still finds himself frequently caught off guard while watching the "Game of Thrones" episodes when they air.
"I guess there's things which I somehow have skimmed over in the script-reading, which come as a surprise to me when I'm watching it," Allen tells Zap2it while promoting the "Game of Thrones" Season 3 Blu-ray and DVD release. "And it's funny, because my friends will literally be sitting there, and we'll be watching it together ... and they'll literally be looking at me and I'll be like, 'What!' And they'll be like, 'Pfft [laughing], hold on a minute! You're in this!' Like, 'I don't know!'"
As for those events Allen does know are coming in future seasons, he is excited to see them unfold on the small screen because he was so disconnected when they were actually filming.
"I definitely am a fan when I switch it on. One thing I definitely look forward to is seeing who they're going to cast as new characters which I know about and it's in my imagination, what they look like, and then seeing what actually happens," he says. "I'm so sort of, you know, separated from everything else that goes on. But yeah, no, I'm definitely a fan. When it gets switched on I'm just as excited as everyone else."
"Game of Thrones" Season 3 arrives on Blu-ray, DVD and digital download on Tuesday (Feb. 18). Season 4 premieres April 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
