Allison Schmitt bests Missy Franklin in 200 Freestyle at Olympic trials
Schmitt, 22, ended up winning by a pretty big margin - she was over two seconds faster than second place, which at this level is considerable. Franklin, 17, was second and that means the two of them are swimming for gold in London in the 200 Free.
In Thursday's 200 Free, Schmitt broke her own American record of 1:54.96, posting a 1:54.40. She had previously qualified for the Olympics in the 400 Free and Franklin had previously qualified in the 200 Backstroke.
