Amanda Bynes' DUI dismissed for probation plea deal

The 27-year-old actress entered into a no-contest plea deal to reckless driving. Instead of facing a DUI charge, Bynes will instead serve three years on probation, pay a fine and attend an alcohol education course, CNN reports.

Bynes was deemed mentally unfit to stand trial for the DUI case back in 2013. The case was delayed so she could receive treatment after a judge placed her under involuntary psychiatric hold. When it was determined she was mentally competent to stand trial, Bynes' case was reopened.

Since her release from a Malibu treatment center in December 2013, Bynes' condition is said to be significantly improving. Her mother Lynn Bynes acts as her conservator, and Bynes is still visiting an outpatient facility several times a week.
