Amanda Bynes tweets topless photo, gets the cops called by publicist
This was apparently the last straw for publicist Jonathan Jaxson. At just after 11 p.m. ET on May 1, Jaxson tweets, "I just spoke to @AmandaBynes and she is soooo messed up on drugs and please @NY_POLICE find her and help her! I don't know her address! @TMZ."
This is where it gets murkier. Jaxson goes on to write (some of which have been deleted, but they are captured on ONTD):
- "They are at her house right now"
- "She ( @amandabynes ) was clearly suicidal & I pray she will get help! God will lift her up & I hope the media will STOP praising her antics!"
- "Thanks to the NYPD and all who helped me RT. The police are at @AmandaBynes NYC house now #realfriends"
Then Jenny McCarthy chimes in with: "Police are at @AmandaBynes house. I hope they get her help. Enough of this circus. She needs help."
Gawker is reporting the "NYPD eventually showed up," but there's no source cited. If they are inferring that simply by the tweets, we aren't sure whether the cops ever showed up or not because McCarthy goes on to say to Perez Hilton that she heard the cops came "from a publicist."
"But by know (sic) means I'm no TmZ so if they don't hear something than it could be wrong," writes McCarthy.
So, it's not like McCarthy is Bynes' neighbor and knew the cops were there. And we aren't sure how Jaxson knew for sure the cops were there. Maybe he spoke with Bynes -- he doesn't say.
Jaxson finishes up the night with a tweet of, "If trying to help someone you feel is in trouble is a crime, then there is a problem. A cry for help is just that! I did what I KNEW to do!"
As of press time, there are no official reports about the cops being at her house. Bynes has been mum on Twitter throughout the whole ordeal.
UPDATE: Bynes has spoken out on Twitter, denying the cops came and calling McCarthy names, then apologizing.
