'American Idol': Casey Abrams plants a kiss on Jennifer Lopez, pushes Steven Tyler into bleep territory

idol-casey2-7.jpgWe liked Casey Abrams' cover of Maroon 5's "Harder to Breathe," but were prepared to consign it to the "safe" category (especially after strong performances from James Durbin and Haley Reinhart) until the last moment when he made a bee-line for the judges table and planted a kiss on judge Jennifer Lopez.

What we're trying to figure out now is whether that was the most memorable thing about his week 7 "Idol" appearance and, if so, whether that's good (hey, he made a big impression) or bad (but it wasn't necessarily for his performance).

J.Lo, who was still reeling from the surprise kiss, said Casey "took a pop song and made it all the way rock."

Randy Jackson, though, zeroed in on one of our concerns about Abrams -- that he's a square peg in the round "American Idol" hole ( that's what she said) -- but spun it into a positive: "Continue to take chances," he said. "It's like your a jazz indie kind of rock guy."

Steven Tyler took his reaction off the air. Literally. It contained so many F-bombs, most of his critique was bleeped out for the TV audience. We think he said something about Casey being a hero, though.

Was Casey your week 7 hero?
