'American Idol': Chris Medina's consolation prize is a Jay Leno appearance

chris-medina-idol.jpgJennifer Lopez nearly lost it on Wednesday's "American Idol" when the judges had to let Chris Medina go. Medina won the hearts of the judges and viewers alike when he explained that he's dedicated his life to being the primary caregiver of his fiancee, Juliana, who was severely injured a few months before their wedding was planned.

Medina's final song was Coldplay's "Fix You," which had us all emotional given his circumstances.

We haven't seen the last of him, though. Medina has been invited to perform on Friday's Feb. 25 episode of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." He'll sing a song called "What Are Words" which was written by Rodney Jerkins specifically for Medina.

The track will be released online on Thursday. In the meantime, check out his last performance below.
