'American Idol': David Archuleta's new album gets title, release date

david-archuleta-getty-washington-dc.jpgFormer "American Idol" runner-up David Archuleta has set a release date for his new album.

The album -- which also has a title now, "Other Side of Down" -- will be available in stores and online on Sept. 14, Archuleta announced on his website. The first single from it, "Something 'Bout Love," has been streaming on the site for a couple weeks and goes on sale on Tuesday (July 20).

Archuleta's first album, released a few months after he finished second to David Cook on "Idol" in 2008, peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard album charts. He also released a holiday album, "Christmas from the Heart," which got as high as No. 30 last year.

There's no word yet on whether Archuleta will go on tour to support "Other Side of Down," but the release date announcement does tell fans to "stay tuned for more great news."
