'American Idol': Jamar Rogers foregoes show to pursue other avenues in music

jamar-rogers-idol-video.jpgRemember Danny Gokey's friend Jamar Rogers, featured heavily on season 8 of "American Idol?"

The Milwaukee native tried out for "American Idol" again for season 9, but dropped out before the judges could make a decision about him.

He tells FOX 6 that having already made it to the Chair Round in Hollywood didn't give him any kind of advantage in season 9 -- "The producers were just as hard on me, I felt just as knocked down as everybody else."

So instead of pursuing "Idol" one more time, Rogers has signed on with producer Phil Ramone, a Grammy-winning producer who has worked with Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and Madonna.

Good luck to Jamar in his musical pursuits!
