'American Idol': Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith to perform

idol-lopez-typer.jpg "American Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez recently used the show as a platform for the launch of her new music video, "On the Floor," but as of yet she and fellow new judge Steven Tyler haven't performed on the show.

Now, xFinity TV confirms that both judges will take the stage before the end of the season. We initially expected that they may join the contestants for the finale, which tends to boast legendary performers and industry greats. "It will probably be before that, actually," says producer Nigel Lythgoe.

Though Tyler and his bandmate Joe Perry are rumored not to be on speaking terms, Tyler's tweets suggest that a reluctant truce has been established in order for Aerosmith to start working on a new record, and perhaps go out on tour. "JUST SMOKED THE PEACE PIPE ... AND ARE ON OUR WAY TO ROCK'IN YOUR FKIN WORLDS THIS SUMMER BY LOCKING OUR SELVES AWAY SOMEWHERE W/ GUITARS & DRUMS," Tyler tweeted.
