'American Idol' judge Kara DioGuardi co-hosts 'Live with Regis and Kelly'
Kara DioGuardi graced the "Regis and Kelly" set for her second co-hosting gig, as regular host Kelly Ripa is off for the whole week.
Kara's dad Joe, who is running for the U.S. Senate, was in the audience. Joe and Regis are apparently distant cousins dating back 200 years to Albania. The more you know!
When asked how things are going with Simon, Kara says he's "been much nicer to me this year. I always think he's gonna do something under the table. Not like that! ... But he's been kinda cozy. I don't know if I trust him."
She's excited not to be the new kid at the judges' table this year and says of Ellen, "I think she's doing a great job. There are times she takes the word out of my mouth."
She also regales Regis with tales of her husband Mike's beekeeping hobby (he makes McCuddy's Honey) and her recent weekend trip with her high school girlfriends. The entire stint made Kara infinitely more likable than she is on "American Idol." We love you Kara, but why can't you be this relaxed and cool on "Idol?"
Here's video of their interview with guest KElse Grammer, who is now starring on Broadway in "La Cage aux Folles."
