'American Idol' runner-up Clay Aiken is running for Congress
Clay Aiken is certainly not invisible right now. The "American Idol" Season 2 runner-up announced he is running for Congress in North Carolina in a new video.
In it, Aiken details why he considers himself a valid candidate. He was a special education teacher who did work for UNICEF and later President George W. Bush. He is a Democrat but wants to work for all people and bring all parties together. And, of course, he mentions his faith.
"I'm not a politician; I don't ever want to be one. But I do want to help bring back, at least to my corner of North Carolina, the idea that someone can go to Washington to represent all the people, whether they voted for you or not," he says. "Maybe we can play a small part in uniting that change across the rest of the country."
All in all, it's a pretty great video. But will it be enough to get Aiken votes? Only time will tell.
