Deadline reports that for the upcoming Season 13 of "American Idol," former judge Randy Jackson will be back -- albeit in a different capacity. Music producer Jimmy Iovine is reportedly leaving the series, where he's served as an in-house mentor since Season 10, and will be replaced by the inescapable Top Dawg.

Jackson had served as a judge on FOX's long-running singing competition since its inaugural season, but was shown the door at the end of Season 12 when a near clean sweep of the judges table was made, seeing the exit of one-term judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj. ( Keith Urban, however, escaped a pink slip.)

Jennifer Lopez is reportedly returning to the judges table after a season away, as well, meaning that the fresh start that Season 13 was supposed to represent will now look awfully familiar instead.

Are you happy Jackson will be back on "American Idol" or do you wish he'd just stay away?
