'American Idol': Simon Cowell slyly slams 'Dancing With the Stars'

simon-cowell-american-idol-3-320.jpg "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell got his digs in at "Dancing With the Stars" during the Top 10 performances Tuesday, March 30.

In response to Didi Benami's (admittedly rough) "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted," Simon Cowell said, "You have no longer made yourself contemporary, everything is too old-fashioned. If you listen to one of those dancing shows, they always have a singer murdering a song on it."

Fellow judge Randy Jackson tried to get Simon to name-names, asking, "Whoa, what sort of dancing show?" and laughing, but Simon just smiled cheekily.

It isn't hard to guess, though. One of the features of "Dancing With the Stars" is an in-house band with a live singer singing (sometimes not very well) a popular song.

Well, at least Didi knows where she can look for a job once she leaves "American Idol."
