'American Idol': Siobhan Magnus wails her last note

american-idol-bottom3-top6-s9-320.jpgAfter singing Shania Twain songs, "American Idol's" Top 6 had to send one of their own home Wednesday night (April 28).

At this point, with so few left, there was a good chance that it would be a surprise elimination, especially given that Casey James and Aaron Kelly pulled out unexpectedly strong performances the previous night, while frontrunners Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox faltered a bit.

As the lights dimmed and the Bottom 3 were determined, Casey James was indeed among those who received the least amount of votes. Shockingly, Michael Lynche and Siobhan Magnus were right there with him.

In the end, it was Siobhan who left, causing more than just her family members to tear up. It's true that her rendition of Twain's "Any Man of Mine" was shaky, but considering her incredible talent and the journey she had on "Idol," we feel that the competition won't be quite the same without her.

Even the judges agreed, with Simon Cowell standing up to give his quirky, misunderstood contestant a farewell hug.

And now, Crystal Bowersox is the last girl standing.

The evening also included performances by Shakira, Rascal Flatts (hooray for subbing for the group sing!), Sons of Sylvia and Lady Antebellum.
