'American Idol' Top 7 talk Akon, their Top 100-charting mentorAdd to Favorites | American Idol
"It was cool! He's very handsome," finalist Elise Testone tells Zap2it of her time spent with Akon during her mentoring session. "We were laughing. We had a really good time. He's very down to Earth. We just talked like we were old friends or something. He had a lot of great advice."
Colton Dixon says he loved the relaxed atmosphere during what turned out to be a very hard day for him (he had difficulties with his song choice). "He was fantastic -- a very, very, cool, chill guy and he had great advice," Dixon says. "Very positive things to say, and needless to say I needed to hear some positive things in that session that day. It was a rough session."
Hollie Cavanagh says she enjoyed hanging out with Akon as well. "He was really nice. And he speaks the way he sings. Have you noticed that?"
Although contemporary Top 100 hits aren't really Phillip Phillips' preferred genre, he says he's familiar with Akon's work. "It was pretty cool. He's a nice guy. I liked his last hit with The Lonely Island. It's a good song. Funny song."
Unfortunately, he declined to sing it for us. "No, I'm okay. [Laughs] I'm fine. YouTube it. It's a fun song."
For the unaware, Phillips is referring to "I Just Had Sex," which you might've seen as a Digital Short on "Saturday Night Live." Enjoy it below. (Warning: It's explicit! In a funny way.)
