'American Idol' XIII Top 8 results: Sam Woolf, C.J. Harris or Malaya Watson, who went home?
"American Idol" Season 13 can't waste any time with these half-hour results shows, so after a brief introduction of the kids and judges, Ryan Seacrest cuts right to the chase.
Dexter Roberts and Jena Irene are revealed safe at the top of the hour, followed by Caleb Johnson, Jessica Meuse and Alex Preston after Daughtry's performance, leaving the Bottom 3 as C.J. Harris, Sam Woolf and Malaya Watson.
At this point in the broadcast we recall what we wrote last night that the next two to leave should be C.J. and Sam, in any order. So as long as Malaya is safe, we'll be happy. We also don't think the judges will use the save on either guy, but they might use it on Malaya. Frankly, it's atrocious she's in the bottom over Dexter or Alex, but we've all been watching "Idol" long enough to know who gets the most votes, right?
However, in a few minutes, we are proven totally wrong when Sam Woolf has to sing for his life and the judges use the save on him. We actually exclaimed, "WHAT?!" as J-Lo announced their decision.
There had to be some producer input on that one, because there is no way Harry Connick Jr. was in agreement to use the save on Sam when a really talented girl like Malaya keeps being put in danger. Or what if Caleb has a bad week?
Let's hope we're not looking at another Casey Abrams-Pia Toscano situation.
