It's been almost 24 hours since the "American Idol" Wisconsin auditions aired, and everyone is still talking about Chris Medina, the silky-voiced Chicago barista whose fiance suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident.

Fans claim he's one to watch this season -- but we have to wonder if they're basing this on talent or our collectively tugged heartstrings.

Truth: Medina's rendition of The Script's "Breakeven" was solid, but it certainly wasn't the best audition of the 2-hour episode. If we're all honest with ourselves, we can all agree that most of the emotional stories that come out of "Idol" auditions tend to end, unceremoniously, during Hollywood week.

But maybe that's about to change. Check out this reminder of Medina's story and performance and then vote in our poll over what's to come of him.
