American Music Awards 2012: Kelly Clarkson performs greatest hits medley with 'Idol' homage
In a brilliant promotional move for said Greatest Hits album, Clarkson performed a medley of favorites from her career. She began the performance with a number pinned to her dress and three "judges" looking on from the stage -- though Jackson had already given her his stamp of approval, calling her "so dope" during his introduction.
After "Miss Independent," she ditched the audition number and belted out "Since U Been Gone," "Stronger," and "Catch My Breath." In a sea of lip-syncing popstars and overdone boy bands, her strong voice and flawless delivery is always a welcome addition to any awards show.
Here's hoping that "American Idol" goes back to churning out stars like Clarkson and Carrie Underwood sometime soon -- the latest winners have fallen a little flat when it comes to a post-reality-TV career.
