'America's Newsroom': Bill Hemmer and Fox News 'looking forward to another good year'
Bill Hemmer: I made a decision that I was going to get through it. A lot of people see me on camera, because I'm the reporter representing the network, and oftentimes they react to how you're reacting.
What I think most people don't realize is how many producers and photographers and satellite operators who are on the other side of the camera, who are living the same experience. They have the same emotions that we do.
Zap2it: What do you think will be the long-term effects?
Bill Hemmer: Kids have shown themselves to be quite resilient. Rightfully so, a lot of people were asking questions about the kids and how they reacted, just like you did, but I was thinking about how many parents, all across the country, were reaching out to other parents and other adults, trying to gain some understanding.
It has moved me and everyone on our staff tremendously, from being in the town and talking to people and seeing the memorials that have grown and grown by the day, and to meet people who have driven in from multiple states.
Zap2it: What's your outlook for the future?
Bill Hemmer: Listen, we're looking forward to another good year. We've had a lot of big stories and a lot of challenges in 2012, as you well know. Together, as a country, here's to hoping for a much better 2013.
