Amy Ryan gets 'Treatment'; Chris Jericho hosting 'Downfall'
The Oscar-nominated actress ("Gone Baby Gone") has taken a role in the third season of HBO's drama "In Treatment," Deadline.com reports. She'll be playing Paul's ( Gabriel Byrne) new therapist, taking over for Dianne Wiest's character. Ryan joins Debra Winger as a newcomer to the series.
Fans of "The Office" are still holding out hope that Ryan will reprise her role as the love of Michael's (Steve Carell) life, Holly. Her possible return was teased in the season finale last month, but the show hasn't made any formal plans for a return appearance. It's not clear yet how her "In Treatment" commitment might affect her availability for other parts.
- WWE star Chris Jericho will be making the leap from pro-wrestling champ to game-show host.
Jericho has been tapped to host ABC's summer series "Downfall," a game show in which contestants will compete for cash and prizes from atop a 10-story building. Players will answer trivia questions while a conveyor belt moves prizes and a pile of money closer to the edge; if everything on the belt goes crashing down, so does the player's hope of staying in the game.
In addition to his wrestling career, Jericho fronts the band Fozzy and competed on FOX's "Celebrity Duets" a couple seasons back.
- Carrie Fisher's memoir "Wishful Drinking" is coming to HBO.
The cable channel is producing a feature-length documentary that will combine snippets of a live performance of Fisher's one-woman show with interviews about and archival footage from her life growing up as the daughter of Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds and her own adventures in Hollywood.
Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey ("Monica in Black and White," "The Eyes of Tammy Faye") are directing and producing the documentary.
