Amy Winehouse autopsy inconclusive; more results in a few weeks

amy-winehouse-autopsy-gi.jpgAn autopsy performed on Amy Winehouse Monday (July 25) proved inconclusive, meaning the cause of the singer's death may not be definitively established for several weeks.

The autopsy "did not establish a formal cause of death, and we await the results of further toxicology tests," London police said in a statement, as reported by CNN. The results of those toxicology tests on blood and tissue samples will be known in two to four weeks.

In the meantime, Winehouse's death Saturday will be classified as "unexplained." The 27-year-old Grammy winner, whose struggle with substance abuse was well-chronicled, was found dead Saturday afternoon at her London apartment.

Her family says funeral services are planned for Tuesday, but details are being kept quiet as it's a private ceremony.
