Amy Winehouse 'Back to Black' dress sells for $68,000

amy-winehouse-dress.jpgThe now-iconic dress Amy Winehouse wore on the cover of her "Back to Black" album sold at auction on Monday for $68,000, reports the BBC.

The Disaya-designed polka-dotted chiffon dress was purchased by Santiago, Chile's Museo de la Moda and proceeds will go to a charity set up by Winehouse's father, Mitch, to help young people struggling with ill health, poverty and addiction.

Winehouse's dad said he was "over the moon" at the gesture from the Thai designer -- who had returned the dress to her archive after the album cover shoot, but donated it for the auction. The 27-year-old Winehouse was found dead in her London apartment in July. A new album of her unreleased tracks is due to be released on Monday (Dec. 5).

Dresses worn by Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn -- including an ivory lace dress sported by Hepburn in "Roman Holiday" -- were also up for auction.
