Anderson Cooper mocks Amanda Bynes' Obama tweet
Earlier this week, facing DUI charges, Bynes had posted this tweet:
"Hey @BarackObama... I don't drink," she wrote. "Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don't hit and run. The end."
Cooper's reaction was mostly derision cut through with a little service journalism:
"If you don't know who she is, join the club," Cooper says. "She apparently used to be on Nickelodeon, then was in the movie 'Hairspray' and some other movies that you've probably never heard of. We're not making light of the charges against her -- it's serious stuff. But the reason why she's on the Ridiculist is because like any sensible, quasi-celebrity, she has taken to Twitter to defend herself."
He then reminded viewers that, "back in 2010, Amanda Bynes tweeted that she was retiring from acting, then she deleted her Twitter account only to reactivate it a month later to announce she was making a triumphant return to show business."
He ended by launching a new segment called "Things More Important Than Amanda Bynes' Tweets."
Note: Bynes has not tweeted anything since the Obama message was posted on June 5, though she did plead not guilty to the DUI charges on Wednesday.
