Anderson Cooper's talk show debuts; Host speaks with Amy Winehouse's family on her troubled life

CooperWinehouseSmaller.jpgCNN host and "60 Minutes" contributor Anderson Cooper kicked off his syndicated talk show "Anderson" on Monday (Sept. 12) by interviewing the family of the late singer Amy Winehouse.

During the premiere, her family discusses the musician's protracted battle with drugs and alcohol, a battle which ultimately took her life in July.

Mitch Winehouse tells Cooper, "She had a series of seizures brought on by this binge drinking and then stopping to drink ... I think she had a seizure, and this was the time when there was no one there to rescue her."

Cooper's show will offer a variety of fare from serious to fun topics. Later in the week he'll be alongside his periodic foil Kathy Griffin, Snooki from "Jersey Shore," Sarah Jessica Parker and the cast of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills."

As for the Winehouse interview, the singer's family shares stories of how important her fans were in their own grieving process and they also speak of her giving nature.

Here are some clips from the show.
