Andrew Garfield and 'Batkid' visit Disneyland after scrapped Oscars 2014 segment

andrew-garfield-batkid-gi.jpgThe questions surrounding Andrew Garfield's absence from Sunday's (March 2) 86th Academy Awards can finally be put to rest. It turns out it was the Academy who canceled on him.

After reports surfaced that Garfield had backed out of the planned segment, which involved making "Batkid" Miles Scott an official superhero during the ceremony, mid-dress rehearsal because he didn't like his lines, the Academy has released an official statement confirming that it was their decision to scrap what was sure to have been a touching moment.

"Due to the nature of a live show, hard decisions sometimes must be made which require the Academy to cut segments due to the logistics of production," a rep tells Us Weekly.

It's a bummer we didn't get to see the moment, but young Miles didn't walk away empty-handed after the plan was scrapped. Instead, he got to spend the day with Garfield at Disneyland.

"Andrew Garfield understood that his segment had to be omitted, and he drove to Disneyland on Monday to spend time with 5-year-old Miles Scott (Batkid) and his family," the rep continues.

Are you bummed the producers cut the Batkid segment from the Oscars?
