William Nicholson, the scribe behind "Gladiator" and the "Les Miserables" film adaptation, previously penned a draft of the "Unbroken" screenplay, but the Coen brothers are taking a swing at it now, reports The Wrap.

The film is an adaptation of Laura Hillenbrand's book of the same title, which chronicles Louis Zamperini's journey from Olympic runner to World War II pilot who becomes a prisoner of war after his plane crashes in the Pacific.

Jolie previously directed "In the Land of Blood and Honey," a drama set in the Bosnian War of the 1990s.
