Anna Kournikova leaving 'The Biggest Loser' after one season

Kournikova and the show will part ways after just one season together. The former tennis star took over for long-time "Biggest Loser" trainer Jillian Michaels this fall.

"I enjoyed my time on the Biggest Loser ranch," Kournikova says in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. "Although I will not be returning as a full time trainer on season 13, I will always be a part of 'The Biggest Loser' family and my commitment to bettering lives through health and fitness will continue."

NBC confirms Kournikova's departure to Zap2it but has no other comment.

Kournikova and Dolvett Quince joined the show this fall to work alongside long-time trainer Bob Harper. Her tough-love approach toward the contestants was not a huge hit with fans of the show, whose ratings have also slid some this fall, along with many of NBC's other shows.

The 13th season of "The Biggest Loser" is currently in production and will likely premiere in January.
