"Ant-Man" has its director. Peyton Reed will direct the Marvel Comics-based film, while Adam McKay will contribute to the movie script. Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas are set to star in the troubled film, with Patrick Wilson and Evangeline Lilly also attached to the project.

The final announcement comes from Marvel shortly after the movie's original director, Edgar Wright, left the project. McKay's name then came up as a possible new director for the project before this official announcement.

In addition to feature films like "Bring It On" and "Yes Man," Reed has a long career in television directing. He most recently helmed episodes of "New Girl" and "The Goodwin Games."

This unlikely superhero story focuses on Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), a scientist who invents a way to shrink in size while simultaneously increase his strength. With the help of reformed thief and new hero Scott Lang (Rudd), Ant-Man must pull off a heist in order to save the world.

"Ant-Man" is scheduled for a release date of July 17, 2015.
