'Army Wives' Kim Delaney apologizes for incoherent military funerals speech

kim-delaney-getty-2.jpgRemember when Kim Delaney spoke at Liberty Medal Award presentation for former defense secretary last September? And she babbled incoherently about attending military funerals, which she hasn't actually done but is what her character on "Army Wives" has done? Yeah, so that happened.

Delaney has now addressed the speech in her first interview since the infamous speech, telling EW, "I wasn't feeling great [and] there were technical problems. I was prepared, but it didn't come out that way. It was like the perfect storm for something to go wrong. And then it goes viral! There's just nothing you can do [but] deal with it, right?"

Well, OK. That doesn't exactly explain why she would have been talking about her character on TV in the context of actual military funerals, but ... fair enough?

"Army Wives" just kicked off its sixth season on March 4 and Delaney says of her hit show for Lifetime that she's "having a wonderful time." "Army Wives" airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. on Lifetime.
