Welcome to "Arrested Development" Rewatch. Leading up to the release of Season 4, Zap2it will be taking a look back at the 53 episodes that made "AD" one of our most beloved TV comedies. Watch the first three seasons of "Arrested Development" on Netflix. Today we're covering the third episode of Season 2, "¡Amigos!," which premiered Nov. 21, 2004.
The Bluths make another ill-fated trip to Mexico in "¡Amigos!," but this time Michael makes the mistake of leaving George Michael's girlfriend Ann Veal behind. This is one of the most memorable times Michael forgets that Ann exists, one of the fan-favorite recurring jokes on "Arrested Development."
Plot: Michael decides to go to Mexico to find his father once Gene Parmesan discovers the stair car there, and turns the trip into a family outing. He, Lindsay, Maeby, George Michael and George Michael's girlfriend Ann travel down south, and Michael accidentally leaves Ann behind. Buster tries to escape to Mexico to avoid going to the army, but accidentally mistakes his mother's housekeeper Lupe's home for the other country. GOB had hired a bounty hunter to keep an eye on Michael because he thought his younger brother was trying to flee the country to spend time with their father, and Lindsay ends up trying to sleep with Ice as part of her open marriage with Tobias. Michael picks Ann up in Mexico and finally gets to know her on the ride back to Newport Beach. Everyone involved in the expedition missed the fact that George Sr. actually was near them in Mexico -- is allegedly dead.
Bluth Company status: Michael still can't be president of the Bluth company because his father is hiding in Mexico. GOB remains president, and Starla fails at being his secretary.
Notable guest stars: Mo Collins as Starla, Martin Mull as Gene Parmesan, Malik Yoba as Ice the Bounty Hunter, Mae Whitman as Ann Veal and Judy Greer as Kitty Sanchez.
Memorable line: "Yeah, way to plant, Ann!" -- George Michael
Milestones: Ice the Bounty Hunter is introduced for the first time -- and definitely not the last.
Recurring jokes worth remembering: GOB does the chicken dance in Mexico again, Michael still can't remember Ann's name ("Her?") and Oscar won't stop making homages to the fact that he's Buster's real father.
Most sexual tension: Lindsay sets her eyes on Ice the Bounty Hunter as the next person she wants to be involved with in her open marriage.
Best narrator commentary: "At no point were Michael and Maeby talking about the same person, and there were only four people in their group. And so Michael left [Mexico] with his niece, followed by his sister and his son, followed by the bounty hunter. Unfortunately, this left the girl Michael was determined to get to know alone in Mexico."
Next on "Arrested Development": Buster brings back his hand chair from Lupe's house, but finds his mother and Oscar making out on it. Gene Parmesan pretends to be Tobias' doctor, and it turns out Tobias has internal bleeding after Ice tackled him.
