'Arrow' casting: Season 2 brings Amanda Waller and a Glades gang lord
Those familiar with the DC universe will likely know the name of Amanda Waller. In the comics, she is the head of the Suicide Squad, a villainous group led by Bronze Tiger ( Michael Jai White) in Season 2. But Amanda will have a slightly different role on the "Arrow" television show. According to TVGuide.com, Ms. Waller is instead a formidable and enigmatic agent working for A.R.G.U.S. (Advanced Research Group United Support). While Oliver Queen won't know this agency's agenda, they do have information on the Starling City vigilante.
This is hardly the first time that Amanda Waller has made it on-screen. Pam Grier played the character on the Superman-themed "Smallville," while Angela Bassett played her in "Green Lantern" and CCH Pounder had the role in the animated "Justice League" series.
Best known for "Spartacus," Addai-Robinson has also acted on "The Vampire Diaries" and "FlashForward." She will first appear on "Arrow" for episode 6 -- titled "Keep Your Enemies Closer" -- of the upcoming season.
A currently unidentified gang lord will show up on "Arrow" at around the same time. Played by Cle Bennett (who will also guest-star in the last two episodes of "Rookie Blue" Season 4 on Sept. 5 and Sept. 12), the gang member is looking to take control of the semi-destroyed Glades. He will have to contend with Oliver if he wants to do that.
"Arrow" Season 2 premieres Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
