"Arrow" has cast its Flash. Grant Gustin will play the iconic DC Comics character and his alter-ego, Barry Allen. Gustin will appear as the character in at least three episodes of "Arrow" Season 2 -- episodes 8, 9 and 20 of the upcoming season.

The CW's official description of Barry Allen and The Flash is as follows:

"Barry Allen is a Central City assistant police forensic investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past.  A comic book fan boy, Barry is obsessed with the Arrow unaware that working with Oliver and Felicity to solve the crime has brought him right into the dangerous world of the vigilante."

Previous news has indicated that Barry will only become The Flash through the events seen during his "Arrow" episodes.

Best known for his recurring roles on "Glee" (as the villainous Warbler Sebastian Smythe) and on "90210" (as Campbell Price), the 23-year-old Gustin is a relative newcomer to the screen. He will next be seen in the upcoming "Glee" Season 5 premiere.

Stephen Amell and Emily Bett Rickards -- who play Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak, respectively, on "Arrow" -- both tweeted excitement about the casting news. Amell posted:

"Hey @grantgust... You should probably start stretching your hamstrings like... immediately. Congratulations!! #Flash"

Rickards, meanwhile, sent out the following tweet:

"Anyone else chanting "Gustin. Gustin. Gustin" like they are at a track race? @grantgust #FLASH #Arrow"
