'Arrow' Season 3: Brandon Routh takes over Queen Consolidated as The Atom

arrow-season-3-brandon-routh-the-atom-ray-palmer-gi.jpg "Arrow" Season 3 is bringing a Superman to the show, kind of. Brandon Routh is set to join the cast in the recurring role of Ray Palmer, otherwise known as The Atom.

According to TVLine, Routh's Palmer will recur as the new owner of Queen Consolidated. Not just content to run Oliver Queen's former birthright, The Atom may have some mysterious plans for the Applied Sciences Division of that company.

Who is this Atom guy? In the DC Comics, Atom is a man who can alter the size of his body and other objects. That should be an interesting feat in the reality-skewing world of "Arrow."

In addition to the title role in the film "Superman Returns," Routh is mainly known for TV roles in shows like "Chuck," "Partners" and "Enlisted."

"Arrow" Season 3 premieres Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
